SOLOIST

Andrew has been a featured artist at the Stamford International Music Festival, The Dame Myra Hess Series, The American String Teachers Association, The Music Teachers National Association, The American Liszt Society, the Jiangsu Performing Arts Association, China. He has held residencies at St James' Piccadilly, St Martin-in-theFields and the British Music Information Center and has been a guest artist at Universities and Conservatoires around the world.

 

His groundbreaking release of the complete sonatas and fragments of Mozart, performed live for NPR, has become a reference recording and the special edition 6 CD Box Set was re-issued after selling out in only six months after release. His upcoming edition 4 CD box set of the complete sonatas of Beethoven, was prepared in collaboration with renowned Beethoven scholar, Jeremy Yudkin, head of the Beethoven Society. His early 2012 release of the complete Beethoven was hailed as having "a style that shows the way some of the finest artists perform Beethoven in the 21st Century" and declared to "rival any number of famous performers in this repertoire." As well as his special releases of classical repertoire for MSR Classics he has recorded for ASV, Silva Classics, Sony Classical, PNOva and the VUCA Label.

A champion of contemporary music Andrew has performed with and premiered the works of Sir Peter Maxwell Davis, John Corigliano, David McBride, James Sellars, Peter Seabourne, Jacob TV, Kenji Bunch, David Shol, Paul Brust, Robert Carl, George Benjamin, Hans Werner Henze, Bruce Mahin, Ed Tyler, DC Heath and David Carhart. In addition to working with classical composers, Andrew collaborates with commercial music composers from around the globe to record soundtracks for film, tv and gaming.

CHAMBER MUSICIAN

While a teen, Andrew was appointed artistic director of the Rubicon Ensemble, a contemporary chamber music ensemble with musicians from the London Symphony and Royal Opera House. The London Press repeatedly singled out his programs at St Martin-in-the-Fields and the British Music Information Center as the "event of the month" ... "not to be missed". At the same time he performed as violinist of the new music ensemble, Double Image making his debut at the Royal Festival Hall and was a guest artist with the Hawksmoor Music Project. 

Coming to the US in 1996 he became assistant to the multi-Grammy winning Emerson String Quartet, studying with members of the Beaux Arts Trio and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. His Doctoral Thesis focused on the chamber music concerts of "Les XX 1884-1992" and its political and musical relationship with the Paris. He founded of the Stamford International Chamber Music Festival in 2004, a chamber music festival for young professionals from around the globe. His piano trio, The Castillon Trio, were ensemble in residence from 2004-2011, performing on BBC radio and giving UK and European premiers of numerous works.

He includes among his mentors the Emerson Quartet the Amadeus Quartet, the Beaux Arts Trio, the Chilingarian Quartet, the Budapest Quartet and Melos Ensemble.

CONCERTMASTER

As a teen, Andrew was appointed assistant concertmaster of the London Pops Orchestra, concertmaster of the European Chamber Opera and European Chamber Consort. A few years later, he became concertmaster of the Orquestra da Norte, Portugal. He has performed as guest concertmaster of Illinois Philharmonic, Kalamazoo Symphony, Connecticut Opera, Connecticut Virtuosi, the Sergio Franchi Gala Orchestra, D'Oyly Carte Opera and in his early twenties performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra and London Musici.

As a baroque performer he was concertmaster for Helmuth Rilling at the Bach Institute and director of the European Chamber Consort and was proud to give the inaugural concert of the Worcester Bach Festival.

 

As a contemporary performer he has collaborated with such distinguished conductors as John Corigliano, Sir Michael Tippet, Hans Werner Henze and Gyorgi Ligeti performing and premiering their music.

 

A trusted collaborator to conductors, he was concertmaster of the Harold Faberman Conductor's Institute and has worked with Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Colin Davis, Sir David Wilcox, Vaclav Neumann, Gunther Schuller and Gustav Meier.
